AIR - BREATH or DIE
Healthy air, to me, is the most basic need for optimum health and vitality. It is also the thing we can do the least amount of time without.
Pure, healthy, clean air is vital for proper cell function. Smokers, coal miners, and people who live in smog polluted cities all have at least one thing in common. They all suffer from respiratory ailments.
What I want to focus on is what you are putting into your lungs.
Ever noticed those chemicals you clean with have warning labels on the side. Sure you have. They are on there on purpose. They are all poisonous if taken internally. Is it possible your house is toxic? You may be actually poisoning yourself one spray at a time ???
So tell me when you sweep and stir up the dust you aren't breathing all that stuff. Air fresheners, carpet cleaners and deodorizers, and other chemical cleaners end up on the floor with everything else and here comes that broom.
Mold spores, mildew, dust mites, fibers laced with fabric softeners that come from your clothes, and last of all those cooking vapors from burning grease. Check this link about the Teflon coating from your cook wear.
RUN FOR IT. MOM HAS THAT BROOM AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!
WELL YOU CAN'T STOP CLEANING!!!
BUT YOU CAN USE SOMETHING ELSE.
How about that vacuum cleaner. Ever wonder what that musky smell is when you first turn it on? I'll tell you. That's the smell of mold and fungus's growing on the trash you sucked up the last time you used it.
I guess you know in order for your vacuum to work, air has to filter out of the bag as it is running. If the air couldn't get out, the bag would pop.
So all those tiny particles that aren't big enough to be trapped by the filter escape into your air and thats the smell.
The trouble with that is those particles stay air born for hours and because they are microscopic they embed deep into your lungs.
This continued poisoning of your lungs prevents your cells from receiving the quality of oxygen they need. Of course you could change your bag each time you use it.
You could go green!!!!!!
Here are some great sites for cleaning and air freshener needs.
- Excellent organic cleaners
- Organic and natural cleaners
- Air fresheners
Think about this. Lemon juice works very well as a bleaching agent for your hair. And very tasty mixed with sugar and water. Don't try that with bleach or peroxide!
Again vinegar and water will do a fantastic job on windows. Also makes tasty pickles. But not windex.
Ground up cinnamon and cloves makes a nice room freshener. Great ingredients for a pie also. But that stuff in a spray can really isn't good for your lungs or eating.
Now you see!!
I have to admit it we still need some cleaners. There are some cleaners we just can't do without. The chemical ones really don't belong in your lungs.
Always damp mop first and rinse often. Remember to make small healthy choices. Get a good quality HEPA air conditioner filter and change it when they recommend.
If you can, rip up your carpet. You really don't want to know what lives and multiplies down under there. I bought this small 1100 sq. ft. home and replaced the whole house with ceramic tile ( it wasn't easy but effective ) because when we moved in there was this "smell?" Nothing we did removed it.
When we ripped it up I got sick to my stomach. I could not believe the filth that was under the padding. Big spots where liquid had been spilled. If liquid doesn't dry quickly it will mildew. And that odor we just couldn't seem to get rid of went with the carpet to the landfill.
I know we have really spread this all over but I hope by now you see that our entire life is touched by every aspect of our living.
We make our environment at home and we can absolutely regulate it.
I buy those expensive air conditioner filters and have an air purifier / ionizer. (yes they really do work for me!!!) I take my shoes off in the kitchen and we damp mop regularly. My air is fairly clean and we don't re-contaminate it with air fresheners. Clean air is a choice.
So the next time you are standing by your window as the light streams in, take a close look at what is floating in your air.
The next time you clean all that stuff from your ceiling fan blades be sure and ask yourself how much isn't stuck to the blades.
When you check your air conditioner filter and it looks plugged remember you probably filtered the same amount of trash out of the air with your lungs. (makes you want to cough doesn't it)
Healthy Choices leads to Healthy Decisions
Healthy air should be a priority in your house. Make healthy air a decision for your life.
